About CIRC

Our History

The Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships has been a premier platform for rowers to showcase their skills since 1985.

The first CIRC was held at at the Argonaut Rowing Club upstairs in 1985 and started there until it grew too large and needed more space.

Where We Raced

The annual competition grew in size and reputation around Toronto and was hosted at  Upper Canada College, George Brown College, the University of Toronto Field House, the lobby of the CBC building,  York Tennis Centre finally settling on a decade long run in the hockey arena at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga.

Highlights

The CIRC team helped stage the indoor rowing event at the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto. In 2021 and 2022, the event was held virtually opening up a new partnership with technology and virtual racing with Time-Team. In 2023, the CIRC stepped up in partnership with Rowing Canada to host the World Rowing Indoor Championships in Mississauga with over 1800 competitors racing in-person and online.
